Young writes about the roles befitting his farewell visit, stating that "the Folks expect a Tragedian to play some his best parts previous to putting on the Extinguisher." His list includes Hamlet, Macbeth, Othello, Caesar, Lear, Merchant of Venice, Cymbeline, Birginus, Stranger, Iron chest, Jealous wife, Provoked husband, Wonder, Wheel of fortune, Gamesters, and Much ado about nothing. Also mentions that The winter's tale was "a failure" whenever he tried it.
